Boston Acoustics VR1 Black (Each) 2-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker

Boston Acoustics VR1 Black (Each) 2-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker Review

Boston Acoustics VR1 Black (Each) 2-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker Feature

  • Dual 6.5-inch (165mm) Copolymer woofers produce deep, tight bass with smooth dynamic mid-bass performance
  • 1-inch VRH.O. Aluminum dome tweeter features a powerful neodymium magnet and Boston's exclusive patented Amplitude Modification Device (AMD)
  • Cabinet constructed of Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) with extensive internal bracing
  • Nominal 8-Ohm impedance and 93 dB sensitivity mean this speaker is easy to drive and will deliver high output with modest powered amplifiers
  • Handles up to 150-watts of undistorted power.Eliminates unwanted resonances and vibration that color and degrade sound.
The Boston Acoustics VR1 floorstanding speaker system delivers the kind of powerful, impressive sound usually associated with more expensive speakers. This relatively compact 2-way, three driver system delivers the classic Boston Sound, a neutral tonal balance with wide frequency range, and uniform dispersion. It is accurate at virtually all volume levels, and has a uniform power response that covers a wide range of seating positions. The speakers 93dB sensitivity (1 watt @ 1m) means they need less than half of the amplifier power required by other designs in order to reach convincing theater-like levels. Even at these higher volumes, the VR1’s retain amazingly high levels of clarity and realism. The VR1 features dual 6.5” DCD (Deep Channel Design) woofers for deep, authoritative bass and low distortion. The tweeter used in the VR1 is the VRH.O.;a High Output version of Boston’s highly-acclaimed 1" (25mm) aluminum dome VR tweeter. This tweeter features a large neodymium magnet motor structure coupled to an extremely lightweight yet rigid Aluminum dome that is unrivaled in its ability to accurately track the input signal. The tweeter also features Boston’s exclusive patented Amplitude Modification Device (AMD). The AMD is an acoustical tuning device that uses precisely sized hollow tubes positioned in front of the tweeter to eliminate unwanted ultra high frequency peaks creating an extremely smooth, extended and flat response. The cabinets constructed of sonically inert Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) with extensive internal bracing. The result is superb structural integrity that eliminates the unwanted resonances and vibration that can color and degrade the sound. This combination of driver design, high system sensitivity, and cabinet integrity coupled with Boston’s legendary system tuning deliver a speaker system of amazing performance for the money.
